Roger thinking of running away symbolizes regret and fear that Roger has. He was regretting what he did to Mrs. Jones, and he is scared because she started threatening him and he didn't know what to expect.
Mrs. Jones telling Roger to wash his face symbolizes how she wants to take care of him, and be a motherly figure for him.
