Saul is a 16 year old aboriginal boy preparing to embark on his journey through a vision quest. In his Native culture, the vision quest is a very sacred ritual that represents the transition through puberty. The first step is meeting the Shaman. The Shaman will help guide you through the vision quest.
After meeting with the Shaman, the next step for Saul is to find a sacred location where the vision quest is going to be held. This location must be very peaceful.
I must find out what this vision means!
As part of the vision quest, Saul must first purify himself before being able to enter the sweat lodge and recieve his vision. The purification process involves fasting and praying.
The bear symbolizes courage, physical strength, and leadership
After all the praying, fasting and the sweat lodge, Saul is now ready to see his vision. As he stands alone in the forest, he begins to see a vision of a bear.
The next step for Saul is to return home and talk to one of the elders in his tribe. The elder will interpret the meaning of his vision.
Once Saul has returned home, he talks to the elder about his vision. She begins to explain that the bear symbolizes courage, physical strength, as well as leadership.
