The village chief took the lion whisker from the wife and told her that she was her own magic potion. The wife did not know what the village chief meant. He said, "Be patient and kind to your husband, as you were patient and kind to the lion. The lion let you have his whisker through patience and kindness. With patience and kindness your husband will love you and show you the affection you wish for and you will be happy."
The wife thought about what the village chief said. When her husband returned from his hard day at work she asked about his day, making him feel appreciated and loved. Each day she did the same and the husband began to look forward to coming home from work, as he felt loved. The husband began asking the wife about her day, and she felt loved. They treated each other with love and respect, and were happy.
So, the village chief was right. With love and respect, kindness and appreciation, happiness can be found. The husband and wife lived happily ever after.
The village chief told the wife he could make her a magic potion to make her husband love her again and both she and her husband would then be happy. But, to make the potion, he would need her to bring him one lion whisker.
The wife wished so much to be happy that she dared to try to get a lion whisker. Every day for weeks she would go into the fields where the lions came to eat and try and get one lion whisker. One lion knew the wife came every day, but because she posed no threat to the lion he did not eat her.
After many weeks, the wife decided she would approach the lion and get a whisker for the magic potion. And, to her happiness and surprise, the lion let her pull a whisker from his mane. The wife ran back to the village chief with the whisker.
