Storyboard Text

  • The New York Times is a very reputable organization. Numerous organizations that investigate biases, such as www.mediabaisfactcheck.com regard it as a “mild left-center bias” with a “high level of factual reporting”.
  • New York Times
  • The purpose of the article is mainly just to inform the reader of the senseless shooting of Stephen Clark as well as illustrate the unnecessary brutality of the incident.
  • The article tends not to be objective in most cases, though it indicates emotion from both sides of the position between blue and black lives matter. It highlights how  “Stephon was not a threat to police and was slain in another senseless killing under increasingly questionable circumstances.” It begins to illustrate the police’s side of view, showing that a Professor at Pittsburgh School of Law cited the policeman “could have [not] done anything differently” It is a liberal media though and tends to lean more to the side of Stephon and is more accusatory to the police.
  • The headline reads "Stephon Clark Was Shot 8 Times Primarily in His Back, Family-Ordered Autopsy Finds" which is a fact that is backed up by the rest of the article. It’s shocking in the brutality of the nature and indicates the potential police brutality behind his death. It also is supported by numerous testimonies in the article as well as the curious nature surrounding the death of Stephon Clark.
  • The story of Stephon Clark has circulated through numerous sources such as NPR, Washington Post, the New York Times, and others, verifying its existence and the confirmed belief in police brutality surrounding his death.
  • In conclusion, it is my belief that this story is indeed based on real facts. The New York Times is cited a credible site that is only slightly influenced as a liberal news media source. It was also further expanded upon in numerous other credible sources such as NPR, and makes sense in correlation to numerous police brutality events taking place in the California area. Though it may have a shocking headline, it is indeed a fact that is verified through numerous testimonies and an autopsy.
