  • Gilgamesh was the king of Mesopotamia. He was considered super human because he was part god and part human.
  • Though, Gilgamesh was mean to his people. They asked the sky god Anu for help. Anu asked the godess Aruru to make a beast like man who was as strong at Gilgamesh. His name was Enkidu
  • No one new about Enkidu, until a hunter spotted him near a waterhole three days in a row.The father of the hunter told the hunter to tell king Gilgamesh, so he did. A beautiful woman named Shamhat was used as bait to get Enkidu. After that Shamhat taught Enkidu how to eat, speak, and dress properly.
  • King Gilgamesh and Enkidu did not like each other. They decided to fight, so they battled and battled. Finally Gilgamesh won. After the battle they became very good friends. They decided to go the the cedar forest to defeat the beast. The beast was named Humbaba. They defeated Humbaba. Not long after that.....
  • The godess of love Ishtar, fell in love with Gilgamesh. But Gilgamesh didn't like her. Ishtar sent down the bull of heaven to kill Gilgamesh. Gilgamesh and Enkidu slayed the bull of heaven. The gods poisoned Enkidu, because he killed the bull, but Gilgamesh was forgiven because he was part god.
  • Gilgamesh knew that one day he would die too. He went to a couple who were granted immortality, and they told him to find a plant at the bottom of the ocean. He traveled to the bottom of the ocean and found the plant. He was going to be granted immortality until a snake snatched the plant away from him. He went back to his village and realized that he could be immortal if he left behind his village. So he did.
