Montresor was talking to Fortunado saying that he has amontiallado but he needs someone to try it.Montresor tells him that he will just go to Luchresi to make sure it is real amontillado.
Fortunado got angry because he knows more about wine then Luchresi. Montresor was telling Fortunado that it's fine because he was already drinking a lot, but Fortunado didn't take no for an answer and decided to go with Montresor to get the wine.
Montresor leads Fortunado to the wine and requests him to be cautious because he wants to punish him with impunity. He still suggests to Fortunado to turn back around but nothing will stop him from getting and drinking the amontillado.
Montresor gives Fortunado the wine, which then he drinks it and immediately gets chained to the wall. Fortunado believes this is a joke and it's just a game of some sort but he doesn't know he is about to be killed.
Montresor begins to stop pretending to be kind and starts to torture Fortunado. Fortunado cried for help but no one hears him, and Montresor begins to mock him and build walls around him with brick.
Montresor finished the wall and walks away feeling a presence of guilt. He says to the readers that no one has disturbed the body for half a century.
