Storyboard Description

Jeannette started seventh grade at Welch High School. When she started school, Jeannette saw Dinitia Hewitt for the first time since the day at the public pool. AS school went on, Dinita changed so much and she was worrying Jeannette. One day at school, Dinita asked Jeannette to think of girls names that started with the letter ''D''. Jeannette wonders why; Dinita thinks she is pregnant. During high school, Jeannette gets curious about boys and she gets insecure about her looks. Jeannette wants to get braces because her teeth are awful, but the Walls family does not have enough money. Jeannette decides to make her own and they work. That same year of high school, Jeannette joined the school newspaper. Jeannette really enjoyed the newspaper and she was the youngest to ever join.

  • Jeannette starts seventh grade in Welch High School. She found it a lot easier to fit in because some kids looked as poor as her.  
  •  The Maroon Wave
  • Dinita Hewitt was at Welch High School too, but Jeannette didn't talk to her much due to social status. Just before Christmas Dinita

  • As Jeannette's features became more noticable, she started to hate her teeth. Embarrassed by her teeth, Jeannette decides to make her braces own because she could never afford real ones.
  • The pieces are starting to come together!
  • Newspaper
  • Jeannette wanted to join a club so she could feel like she belonged.  Jeannette joined the school newspaper, The Maroon Wave, because it cost no money.
  • Jeannette tried not to attract attention,  but there was a lady who disliked her anyway. She complained about her to the editor and sprayed disinfectant and air freshener at her. 
  • Jeannette likes the newsroom and is interested in the life of a reporter. Jeannette feels like she has been given the missing pieces to the puzzle and things are starting to make sence.
