Storyboard Text

  • Mom! Tommy got a stomach virus - an unconditioned stimulus! It causes a response that is automatic, like vomiting!
  • Oh my!
  • Ugh...I feel awful & I keep throwing up as an unconditioned response, meaning that it occurs from an unconditioned stimulus, like the stomach flu.
  • That chocolate really messed me up...or made me more susceptible to another stomach virus, it's almost like it's a conditioned stimulus, which is a stimulus that causes a response because one learns to associate it with something.
  • One month later...
  • Sure.
  • Hey sis! Can I have some chocolate too?
  • My stomach hurts again! Oh man...I don't think that chocolate was such a good idea.
  • Later that day...
  • The next day...
  • Haha very funny. I used to love it, but now, every time I look at chocolate it makes me want to vomit. It's like a conditioned response or a learned response to a stimulus that was previously neutral.
  • You want any chocolate?
