Hi my name is Josh, today I'm going to teach you about the five properties of addition and multiplication
This property means the order doesn't matter at all it will always give you the same answer no matter what. This only applies in addition and multiplication.
First I will show the meaning and some examples of commutative property.
Here is an example: 7+4 = 4+7 = 11 8*4 = 4*8 = 32
This means that it doesn't matter the way you order the parentheses because it will not affect the result. And again this only applies in addition and multiplication
Now let me tell you about the Associative Property
Here is an example: 6+(9+4) = 9+(6+4) = 19 2*(5*3) = 5*(2*3) = 30
As it says it in the name this only applies in addition. This property means when you add 0 to another number the answer is always the numer.
We are almost done just 3 more properties. Here is the next one: Additive Identity
Here is an example: 7+0 = 7 0+6 = 6
Now the multiplicative identity only works on multiplication obviously. This one is easy any number times 1 is always the number
Only 2 more. The next one is the Multiplicative Identity
Here is an example: 8*1 = 8 1*4 = 4
Here we have the easiest of all the properties. This one means that every number that you multiply by zero will be zero.
And finally the last one.Now we have the multiplicative property of zero
