Our main character, Emily, is seen here on the streets begging for food. Emily has been homeless for 10 years. since she was 7. Her dad left before she was born, and her mother and brother died of sicknesses. She was all alone from a very young age. She tried staying in a homeless shelter, but she stayed the maximum of 5 years, so they kicked her out.
"Sir could you help me please? I'm homeless and I have no food!"
"Sure! Let me get you something to eat. Come with me."
Emily found a man on the streets that was willing to buy her food. She wanted to repay him, but did not know how. She then offered to go to the park and talk about each other. The man accepted and paid for the food.
"OH MY GOSH! That's so much food! Thank you SO much!"
"Are you guys ready to check out?"
"Yes sir, we are. You are very welcome young lady."
They reach the park and get to know each other better. Emily was surprised to know that he volunteered at a homeless shelter.
"Well Emily, I'm Mike, and I am 21 years old. I work at a restaurant, and volunteer at a homeless shelter on the weekends."
"Sorry that I didn't properly introduce myself. I'm Emily, and I am 17 years old."
Emily and Mike talk for awhile and he ends up offering her a job. They then see an older woman walking through the park, and a younger girl following her. The younger girl is throwing a tantrum. Emily sighs and wishes that she got to throw tantrums like that over toys when she was younger,
"That would be amazing! Thank you so much Mike!"
"Emily, the restaurant I work at has an opening, if you want, the boss can interview you tomorrow."
"Charlotte stop! Did you know that about 100 MILLION people are homeless. They have nothing, and you are crying over a toy.''
"I wanted that toy! I hate you!"
"So...Emily, Mike told me that you are a great person for this job. How do you think you can contribute?''
Emily is now at the job interview for the resturant Mike told her to go to. She's super excited because she got her very first job! She was one of the 10 million people a year looking for a job.
"OK, Emily, you're hired!''
"Well, I love helping people and I would love to work here, it seems like a wonderful place. I'm also homeless, and I need a job."
