  • 1824 - John Adams and the Corrupt Bargain
  • 1828 - Tariff of Abominaton
  • Lower the tariffs or the South secedes!
  • No, keep the tariffs the same so that the North earns more money!
  • 1828 - Jackson 1st Election
  • I support you, Andrew Jackson!
  • In the 1824 election, there was no candidate that got the majority of the votes, so the House of Representatives elected John Quincy Adams as president.
  • 1828 - South Carolina Nullification
  • These tariffs are unconstitutional and we, the South, refuse to pay them!
  • The tariffs on imported goods were raised. This hurt the South, who threatened to secede, while it benefitted the North.
  • 1830 - Worcester v. Georgia
  • Yeah... I don't really care. Regardless of who's land it is, you still failed to take the oath.
  • Andrew Jackson was known as the "common man" president and was supported by farmers, laborers, and frontiersmen
  • 1836 - Trail of Tears
  • Tariffs were declared unconstitutional and the South nullified them.
  • A missionary was arrested for living on Native American grounds without taking an oath. It was argued that it was the Native American's land, not Georgia's, but President Jackson ignored the facts.
  • But its the Native American's land, not Georgia's.
  • The Trail of Tears is the trail the Cherokee Indians traveled along to get west of the Mississippi River. Four thousand died along the way.
