In 1743, James Oglethorpe returned back to England with intention to come back. He ended up staying in England because he fell in love in 1744, and he never came back.
It's time for me to go back home! I'll see you in a few years, America.
Oglethorpe's rules are stupid!
Because of James's absense, malcontents began illegally using slaves and drinking rum.
Knowing that James Oglethorpe wasn't coming back to Georgia, the Trustees handed off the charter to King George II and Georgia became a royal colony a year earlier than it was supposed to. This gave Georgia much success and it became the fastest growing English colony.
