Storyboard Text

  • The Articles of Confederation was a written document that was our first constitution. It gave the individual states all the power while the nation had little to none in the government
  • The most significant weakness with the Article of Confederation was that the federal government had little power while the states had the majority of it. This made the nation disunited since each state had its own government.
  • We have no power??!  (Federal)
  • The Article of Confederation gave all of us the power! (states)
  • The purpose of the Constitutional Convention of 1787 was to get representatives of each state to come to Philadelphia to address the weaknesses of the Articles of Confederation. The changes that were made was that in the new constitution they gave the nation more federal power.
  • We must give federal government more power and make the states unified!
