Theme: Doing good for others and living in your past present and future, being aware of what you do and how It can change your life and others by your actions can change who you are in the long run.
" Remove me!" Scrooge exclaimed "I cannot bear it !" "Leave me! Take me back. Haunt me no longer!" (640) Scrooge is really hurt by what he sees he realizes that people move onto be happy he pushed her aside for his greed. she loved him but he loved money so she left him he regrets that he pushed her aside now seeing how happy she's become cause she chose love over money he'd rather leave cause it just hurts him too see her happy when he's miserable he learns that because of his choice he's affected the way he lives today.
"Ghost of the Future!" he exclaimed, "I fear you more than any other specter I have seen. But as I know your purpose is to do me good, and as I hope to live to be another man from what I was I am prepared to bear your company and do it with a thankful heart. Will, you not speak to me?" (657) He feels that he needs to learn as much from his past present and future to change himself in any way any decision can be analyzed he's learned just as much from the good as he has bad in his life we start to see a change in scrooge as if over the last three staves we see him take note of where he may need to improve and takes responsibility for that.
"Hear me! I am not the man I was. I will not be the man I must have been but for this intercourse. Why show me this, if I am past all hope?"(663). Scrooge has the chance to show everyone that he is not what he used to be, he can change if he puts his mind to it he can help others and be an outgoing person, he believes that there is still hope for him to change if only he could find it in him to do so.
"I will honor Christmas in my heart and try to keep it all the year. I will live in the past the present and the future. The spirits of all three shall strive within me. I will not shut out the lessons that they teach me. Oh, tell me I may sponge away the writing on this stone!" (663) Scrooge has had a breakthrough, he has "peeled away" the layers above the kindness he's always had he's just never realized that it's always been there. His true colors show he's made an oath to forever be kind and live in the teachings of the spirits.
