I get distracted when I take notes on my computer, so I'm going to take notes on paper from now on.
Instead of asking questions during the presentation, I'll write them down and ask after.
I'm working on paying better attention to the speaker's tone and body language, which will help me understand more of what they're saying.
What are the four main causes of poor listening?
Not concentrating or being distracted,
Jumping to conclusions, missing the main points,
and focusing too much on the delivery and how the speaker is presenting him or herself.
In high school and after, I had a habit of jumping to conclusions and therefor missing the true point of what the speaker was trying to say. Now that I know that's a problem, I'm going to make an effort to stop doing that!
