That's the Philosopher's Stone and the Elixir of Life.
Santiago had to make a hard choice, either to stay and marry Fatima or continue searching for his treasure. This connects to me because sometimes you have to make a decision when faced with possibilities.
The Man Who Can Transform Into Wind
Santiago tells Fatima that he will continue to follow his personal legend which is to find the treasure with The Alchemist’s help. This communicates to me because Santiago chose an object over love.
Santiago and The Alchemist needed to get to the Pyramids, where the treasure was located at. On there way, they spotted three armed tribesmen. The tribesmen let The Alchemist and Santiago go since Santiago's answer was amusing.
After The Alchemist and Santiago continue their journey to find the treasure, they stumble across soldiers. The Alchemist gave the soldiers Santiago's money and told them that Santiago can transform himself into the wind.
The Alchemist left to go to the desert while the boy dug for his treasure. Refugees from the tribal wars saw him and took his gold away. They also yanked him and started to beat him until Santiago was bruised and bleeding.
After the refugees left, Santiago reached a small abandoned church and started digging in the sand until his shovel hit something solid. He continued digging and he eventually realized he found his treasure which was a chest of of Spanish gold coins.
