  • Roundheads
  • We want our rights!
  • Fight us for 'em.
  • Cavaliers
  • And now that the King is dead, I'd like to make a change for the future.
  • James 1 had the Divine Rights of kings and he was using it to his advantage which lead to tension being a rose with Parliament.
  • ATTACK!!!!
  • I better flee before they get me!
  • The Roundheads were tired of the king not compromising with them which cause a civil war between the supporters of the king (cavaliers) and the Parliament (roundheads).
  • Oliver Cromwell, the leader of the new model army, was victorious against King Charles and his Cavaliers. Cromwell set up the military dictatorship. He ruled until his death in 1658. After his death, the army restored England's monarchy.
  • English Bill of Rights
  • With thoughts of a Revolution spreading, James 2 decided to flee to France because he knew he was out numbered and didn't have a chance.
  • The revolution has officially ended. In 1689 William and Mary have accepted the throne and are now the rulers. William and Mary were Monarchs.
  • Monarchy and Parliaments ruled together and destroyed theory of Divine Rights of Kings. The Bill of Rights came to be and laid the foundation for the constitutional monarchy.
