Storyboard Text

  • Civilization vs. Savagery
  • "You would, wouldn't you? Fatty!"
  • "My specs! One side's broken."
  • “we need an assembly. Not for fun. Not for laughing and falling off a log, not for making jokes”
  • "We don't need the conch any more."
  • By: Sarah Briscoe
  • "You haven't got the conch, sit down."
  • "You haven't got the conch"
  • This is an example of savagery. Jack is being extremely rude and disrespectful to Piggy by punching him in the stomach and breaking his specs.
  • "Kill the beast!"
  • "Cut his throat!"
  • "Spill his blood!"
  • "See? That's what you'll get! I mean that! There isn't a tribe for you any more! The conch is gone- I'm Chief!"
  • By Ralph saying this, he is trying to get everyone to understand that they need to start working and they need to start doing their part or they’re not going to survive. It's unfair for only some people to put in work. Ralph is being civilized and telling everyone what needs to happen.
  • "Which is better, law and rescue, or hunting and breaking things up?"
  • "Which is better-to have rules and agree, or to hunt and kill?"
  • By Ralph telling Jack that he needs to "sit down" he is taking charge and showing him who is chief and that the rules are not changing. This shows Ralph being civilized and keeping rules in order.
  • This scene shows the savagery in the boys. They all work together to kill Simon because they think that he is the beast.
  • This scene shows Jack's group turning savage and killing Piggy. Piggy and Ralph are trying to get the point across that killing is wrong and there needs to be rules in order for a group to be civilized, but they refuse to listen and Rodger kills Piggy.
