  • Roman citizens were divided up into  two classes: the plebeians and the patricians. The patricians were the wealthy upper class people. Everyone else was considered a plebeian. The patricians were the ruling class of the early Roman Empire.

  • The Romans persecuted Christianity they felt that it endangered their empire. They began to punish the Christians and then the religion split into two branches: The Latins peaking Roman Catholic Church and the Greek-speaking Eastern Orthodox Church.
  • The Huns invaded the Roman Empire and failed to enforce its rule. Its vast territory was divided into several successor polities.
  •  They invented aqueducts around 312 B.C.E.  They used gravity to transport water along stone, lead and concrete pipelines and into city centers. Aqueducts redeemed Roman cities from a dependence on nearby water supplies. Some other of their contributions include public baths, markets, and juries. The Romans were also the greatest builders of the ancient western world.
