  • We want more land!!
  • Japan wanted more  power and they thought that they could obtain that power through taking land.
  • hmm... that's a good idea
  • United States Oil/Steel Embargo on Japan
  • Sir, Maybe we should threaten to cut off economic connections like oil and steel from japan
  • President Roosevelt thought that the only way to make Japan back down was by  threatening an embargo.

  • Pearl Harbor, Hawaii and the Surprise Attack
  • Boom!
  • Japan attacked Pearl Harbor in Hawaii on December 7th, 1941. The attack was a surprise and "woke the sleeping giant." (the United States)
  • ahh we're being bombed!!
  • On March 7, 1936 Hitler ordered Germany's generals to enter Rhineland.  This act of Hitler went against the  Treaty of Versailles.

  • FDR gave a speech over pearl harbor on December 8, 1941. In his speech, he used the famous words "date which will live in infamy."

  • okay sir!
  • On december 11, 1941 the United states decided to enter World War 2. The Pearl Harbor Attack was a major influence in this decision.
