It's been weeks since I last saw Fatima, but I know I forgive her. I cannot tell her what to feel or what to do. Though it stings, she must figure herself out on her own, as she let me do with myself.

Santiago reminds himself of what he's gone through, from traveling all the way from Spain to where he is now. With all the influential people he's met along the way, guiding him to fulfill his Personal Legend such as the Alchemist and helping other realize their Personal Legend in life, like crystal merchant.
Remembering the wise words of the alchemist, Santiago feels at peace with his relationship with Fatima. Though it did not work out, he knows she has her own journey and battles to endure before she truly understands the world for what it truly is and what it means to every single person.
Santiago returns back to his father in Spain and tells him of the adventures he has had while on the journey to the Pyramids. His father's eyes lit up with all the stories of the streets of Tangier, the beauty of the Oasis and the comprehension of the Language and Soul of the World. It was this day that Santiago's father knew that letting him go two years ago was worth it.
