Storyboard Text

  • The U.S. currently occupies Midway Island. Having said that, we have become aware of an impending Japanese attack. This is because the United States has begun to crack the radio codes that the Japanese use to communicate with. Therefore, we are preparing for anything that might happen.
  • We're going to make the attack on Midway Island secret; similar to the attack on Pearl Harbor was. First, attack via air. Then, attack via water. Once U.S. reinforcements come, there will be a joint strike by air and water.
  • The battle is now underway. Japanese warplanes cause major destruction to U.S. carriers, but their success doesn't last. In just two days, all 4 Japanese aircraft carriers would be destroyed.
  • Japanese fleets arrive, but it doesn't take long before they are ordered to retreat, ending the Battle of Midway.
  • After several days of fighting, the United States comes out victorious.
  • As a result of losing the Battle of Midway, Japan abandoned its plan to expand its reach in the Pacific. The Japanese would remain on the defensive for the rest of WWII.
