Storyboard Text

  • Kiss me, Janie!
  • OK...
  • What is this?!
  • Come work outside with me.
  • No. I'll cook and clean for you, but I won't work outside.
  • Come run away with me. I've got big plans for my future, one that I would love to share with a pretty woman like you.
  • When I was still a little girl, I had my first kiss with a boy named Johnny Taylor. Little did I know, my grandma, Nanny, saw me and immediately paired me up to marry this man named Logan Killicks.
  • Hello, I'm Tea Cake.
  • Well, hello there.
  • My marriage with Logan was not genuine as I did not want to be married to this man. We disagreed on many things, especially when he wanted me to work outside with him.
  • Tea Cake!
  • Still married to Logan, I met this stranger outside of our house on the road. He went on about all the great things he knows he's going to accomplish. I was swept off my feet. He asked me to join him on his journey, so I did. I never saw Logan again.
  • Oh, Lawd! Tea Cake...
  • After leaving with the mysterious man I met on the road, Joe Starks, we found ourselves in a small town in need of a mayor. Joe took advantage of that and took control. Everything was good until he began to get controlling over me. What I once thought was love soon grew to hatred. Joe abused me, and I was unhappy. He died, and I met a nice, young man at the store.
  • The young man's name was Tea Cake. Although he was a lot younger than me, we fell in love. Well after moving to the muck, a hurricane hit Florida. We were fine until Tea Cake was bitten by a rabid dog.
  • A while after, Tea Cake began to fall ill. The weird feeling then grew to acting like a completely different person. The doctors were of no help. Before I knew it, Tea Cake, blinded by the disease, tried to kill me. I had no choice but to end his life. I was devastated. I later returned back to my hometown.
