Storyboard Text

  • During 1640, major theaters faced lots of suffering because people would not attend plays.
  • Why is this plague stealing our audience members!
  • Most of our male actors are either dead or dying.
  • Not only the audience, also our actors!
  • Lots of people were dying or fleeing the city in order to escape from this black death
  • I'm afraid your boy will not live.
  • No! Not both of my boys! They just wanted to live their dreams as actors!
  • We need to salvage any audience we have left!
  • I believe not much audience will arrive. We'll have to substitute the male actors with women.
  • Let us go to the country, away from this plague!
  • By moving to the country, major theater's were less accessible to the public, eventually leaving only the rich and honored to have access to the theater due to their ability of easy transportation.
  • It was our only option... unfortunately the king did not like the idea of women on stage.
  • WHY WOULD YOU PUT WOMEN IN THE PLAYS? THAT'S EXACTLY WHY THEY SHUT US DOWN.
  • The idea of women taking on the stage was new and unsettling to many audience members. The king at the time used that as a final straw for the little success of theater.
  • Enough of this! All theaters are banned!
  • Who in their right mind would let a women act?
  • Way to go, you buffoons! and pull your self together man!
  • Let the black death embed itself in me, for I am not worthy!
  • Theater is a lost art now.
