  • Hello! My name is Sasha and I will be doing your scan today. Can you verify your name and D.O.B and tell me what scan you are having?HI, little one

  • Hi! The name is Eve Smith and D.O.B is 09/06/77 am here for a HIDA Scan. Can you explain the procedure for the scan.
  • The HIDA Scan procedure used to diagnose problems with the liver, gallbladder and bile ducts. The scan takes about an 1-4 hours.
  • Then I will place the gamma camera over your abdomen to take pictures of the tracer as it moves through your body.
  • Do you have any questions for me before we start the scan?
  • First, I will inject a radioactive tracer into your arm. You may also feel pressure or a cold sensation as the is injected.
  • No! I believe I am all set and ready for the scan.
  • Okay Ms. Smith, you're all set and ready to go home. Make sure to drink plenty of water to help flush the radioactive out of your body. Your Doctor will discuss your result with you.
