  • Many famous thinkers and ideas transformed the monarchy.
  • They contested the dogma of the Catholic Church. 
  • I'm Francis Bacon. I created the scientific method!
  • As a result, conflict and revolution broke out. 
  • I'm Rene Descartes!  I made a connection between geometry and algebra!
  • We want liberté, égalité, fraternité!
  • Stage One: National Assembly
  • Storming the Bastille: Represented the tearing down of the monarchy's dictatorial rule. 
  • We vow not to separate, and to reassemble wherever circumstances require!
  • Stage One: National Assembly and the Tennis Court Oath
  • Members of the Third Estate begun to call themselves the National Assembly.
  • It was drafted by General Lafayette, Honore Mirabeau, and Thomas Jefferson.
  • Stage One: National Assembly and the Declaration of the Rights of Man.
  •  It became the basis for a nation of free individuals protected equally by the law.
  • The Declaration of the Rights of the Man is a document in the history of human civil rights.
