  • general Datis in charge of his army but Second-in-command was Artaphernes, Darius’ nephew
  • The total strength of the Persian army was  90,000 men. The Greeks were led by Miltiades or Callimachus and they had a army of men between 10,000 and 20,000
  • the two armies clashed. the Persian plan was to rapidly fire lots of arrows into the enemy. 
  • the Greeks came closer to the enemy lines. This would help because of their longer spears, heavier swords and better armor
  • the Greek  won a great victory against the Persians.According to tradition 6,400 Persians were dead
  •  the Persian fleet fled back to Asia but they would be back, and next time, in even bigger numbers.
