Storyboard Text

  • I've been diagnosed with a terminal illness and I don't know how I can do this anymore. I'm scared of what is to come.
  • Hi! I'm your nurse Daphne. I'll be taking over for the night nurse. Are you in pain? You seem upset.
  • You are doing a great job at advocating for your patient. As a nurse, providing holistic care is esstential. I will offer advice to her and hopefully help her through this difficult time.
  • I'm worried about my patient. She has been diagnosed with a terminal illness and has lost all hope. I wanted to contact you, Father Doug to see what guidance you can offer her.
  • T M C
  • Ms. Rhodes, this is Father Doug and I thought he may be a great part of the team to support you through this trying time.
  • It hard to be faithful sometimes. Thank you helping me rekindle that important part of my life.
  • Hospital Nurse Patient Advocate
  • "When people are challenged by something like a serious illness or loss, they frequently turn to spiritual values to help them cope with or understand their illness or loss" (Puchalski, 2001). The nurse notifies the hospital priest to advocate spiritual care for her patient to offer her healing in a holistic manner rather than a symptom-treating manner.
  • The nurse shows compassion to her patient by offering spiritual services for her fear and anxiety following her diagnosis. As a nurse, its important to care for a mental state as well as a physical state.
