  • The Tell-Tale Heart By: Edgar Allan Poe

  • The narrator tries to prove his sanity, by saying some things like he can hear heaven and hell and other crazy things like that. He lives with an old man who's eye is the only thing that drives him crazy.
  • Falling Action
  • Oh please, do come in.
  • Over 8 long days, the narrator plans to kill the man with the vulture eye. It was the only way to get rid of it. He would seek into the old mans room every night at midnight and wait there until he saw the eye.
  • Denouement
  • Tick, Tick, Tick..
  • One night, as the narrator walked into the old mans room, the old man woke up from a tick of his lantern. The Narrator saw his eye and pulled him the man off the bed and suffocated him in his own mattress.
  • Soon the police come saying that a neighbor heard a scream, the narrator says it was him that screamed and that the old man is out of town. He lets the police check the house and offers them a seat.
  • The story ends when the Narrator hears a ticking sound thinking its the heart. He believes that the police hear it too, and confesses his wrong doing.
