The lantern shines upon the old man's vulture eye, the narrator starts going furious. He then starts hearing the rapid heartbeat of the old man going faster. The narrator is worried the neighbors will hear. In the moment the narrator decides to kill the old man and puts him under the bed.
He then proceeds to clean up the mess of the death. The police arrive to his house, they came because the neighbors heard a shriek from the house and reported it to the police. The officers come in and the narrator thought his calmness and manners would convince them that there nothing.
The officers and narrator are sitting and discussing, The narrator hears a very dull ringing. It starts to get louder and louder, until he cant handle it anymore and yells "Villains!". "dissemble no more! I admit the dead!, tear up the planks!, here here!, it is the beating of his hideous heart!"
