  • Washington was the first President of the United States. He had to set up many different systems to help the nation run. Question: How big of an effect did Washington have on the states?
  • The Bill of Rights
  • Bill of Rights 1. R.A.P.P.S. 2. Right to bear arms 3. No quartering soldiers 4. No illegal search or seizure 5. Right to due process 6. Right to a speedy public trial 7. Right to a jury in civil cases 8. No cruel or unusual punishment 9. All rights not said are given to the people 10. The federal government can only do what is said in the Constitution
  • The Cabinet is a group of advisers for the President. Washington had a secretary of state, treasury, and department of war. Question: Do you think Washington listened to other opinions during the presidency?
  • The New Economy
  • There is a supreme court, which can over rule state courts. Congress reached this agreement in the Judiciary Act of 1789. Question: Do you think the federal court should be higher than state courts? Why or why not.
  • Hamilton's Plan
  • The BIll of Rights was put into place so our right can't be taken away. Question: What group of people were fighting for the Bill of Rights?
  • The economy wasn't very stable when Washington took office. The country was in a ton of debt. Question: Who did the country look to for this problem?
  • Alexander Hamilton came up with an idea to get the country out of debt. All of the states would help each other pay it off. Question: Is this unfair? Why or why not.
