Storyboard Text

  • And so the soldiers took Jesus to set out with His cross to the place where He would be crucified, a hill called Golgotha. (Place of the Skull) Jesus knew that this was His time so He inched His way to His death, knowing that it was the will of His father. God loves us so much that He gave us His ONLY Son to save the people who weren't doing the right thing.
  • Finally, the soldiers stripped Jesus and crucified Him along with two other by His side. They drove nails through His hands and feet, and to mock Him even more, they put a sign on His crossing saying "INRI" which means "This is the King of the Jews."
  • INRI
  • Being out in the sun can make people very thirsty just like it made Jesus thirsty. When Jesus asked for water, they gave Him a sponge filled with vinegar. Vinegar is like a very sour wine that can make you even more thirsty.
  • INRI
  • To make sure that Jesus was dead, the soldier plunged a spear into Jesus' side and immediately, blood and water poured out. This is like at church, the priest pours water and wine into the chalice.
  • INRI
  • Then a man named Joseph of Arimathea took Jesus down from the cross, wrapped Him in clean linen cloth and placed Jesus in a tomb.
  • INRI
  • Joesph then rolled a huge rocked in front of the tomb to keep it sealed tight. This rock was so huge that it would be very, very hard for someone to move it.
