Storyboard Text

  • You see, Mr. Marshall, Mr. Madison has denied me the right to my office! Use your power that was granted to force him to give me my position!
  • What are you talking about!!! He has unfairly put Federalists into all of the Judicial Positions! The needs of the people must come first!
  • Well, I believe that Madison is doing something wrong, but I have to strengthen the power of the Judicial Branch. The order would probably be ignored though, which would not make my power stronger...I have to do something amazing...
  • Madison, what you did was completely wrong. However, I judge the Judiciary Act of 1789 to be unconstitutional. Therefore, I do not have the power to order him to give his commission.
  • Well, he snatched some Judicial Power at my expense. At least I know that the Federalist ideas will be protected by the Judicial Branch!
  • He snatched some Judicial Powers in this case. But we can't really complain, because he called it in our favor. Let's Celebrate!
  • Therefore, Marshall was able to ingeniously give himself the power of Judicial review, the final check and balance of the US Government that kept political balance, while keeping everyone happy. This important decision still makes an impact on our life today.
