Silent trade is trade between people who have never met face to face. It is arranged by a middle man who sets up a date and time for the trade to occur. Silent trade was used to avoid conflict and language barrier. The West Africans and Wangarans used silent trade and it took place along a river in the southern forest. Storyboard by: Madden Mullaney
First the traders would arrive to where the trade would be occurring.
Then they would lay their goods along the river bank
The traders would beat a drum after laying the offerings to let the Wangarans know a trade was being proposed.
They would walk away to give the Wangarans time to make and offer
When the Wangarans heard the drums they would travel by boat to the place trade was occuring
