Because of the smaller ships of Athens and the big Persian ships, Greece won the battle. Meanwhile, foot soldiers came to Athens and saw it deserted, so they set it on fire.

The Battle of Plataea: After the Battle of Salamis, Athens and Sparta joined together in an army consisting of 100,000 soldiers, and met the Persians who also had 100,000 soldiers. The battle was even, but Greece ended up victorious.

Decline of the Persian Empire: Ather the wars fought with Greece, Persia went bankrupt from funds for the war and luxuries that were bought by leaders.
