newtons law

Storyboard Text

  • Sir Issac Newton is a mathematician and a physicist who is best known for his work with gravity. I came up from the dead to talk about his 3 laws tonight.
  • Okay, so first there is his first law, law of inertia. This law states " An object in motion remains in motion, unless acted on by an unbalanced force. An object at rest remains at rest, unless acted on by an unbalanced force."
  • Hmm, lets see an example is if this ball is moving the only way it will stop if it hits this brick wall. The brick wall is the unbalanced force.
  • Next off their is Newtons second law, Also know as Newtons law of force and acceleration. This law states," The acceleration of an object depends on the mass of an object and the amount of force applied."
  • For instance if you push a ball and a car with the same amount of force the car would move slower than the ball because the car has a greater mass than the ball.
  • Lastly, before I return back to my grave there is Newtons third law. This law states, " Whenever one object exerts a force on a second object, the second object exerts an equal and opposite force on the first object."
  • An example is when you push on the ground with your foot and the ground pushes back on your foot.
