Lucretius was a Roman poet who wrote his book De Rerum Natura around 60 BC. The most common English translation is On theNature of Things.
With death we lose all that we have gained as well as our cravings and desires.
Lucretius said that death is not a problem since you cannot be miserable about not existing when you cease to exist.
A dead person does not look for herself or list herself as missing.
We lack the capacity to alter eternity, no matter low long we live.
So why worry about the length of a lifespan if there is an eternity before you were born and an eternity after you die?
