Storyboard Text

  • Lucretius was a Roman poet who wrote his book De Rerum Natura around 60 BC. The most common English translation is On theNature of Things.
  • With death we lose all that we have gained as well as our cravings and desires.
  • Lucretius said that death is not a problem since you cannot be miserable about not existing when you cease to exist.
  • A dead person does not look for herself or list herself as missing.
  • We lack the capacity to alter eternity, no matter low long we live.
  • So why worry about the length of a lifespan if there is an eternity before you were born and an eternity after you die?
