This storyboard does not have a description.
I was just assigned a request to backup and restore DatabaseA from ServerA to ServerB. The request form already checks to see if these servers and databases exist, so I'll review the rest of their request details.
An Auto DB Request comes in and is assigned to Derek since he is the DBA in charge of operations at this time. The application already checked the validity of the server and database names in the request to make sure the information provided is accurate. It wouldn't have been allowed to be submitted otherwise.
The application prompts the requestor for detailed information on how the backup and/or restore is to occur. Derek just needs to review these details and make sure that proper manager approval was granted on the request before continuing. If there are any issues with the details being requested the application will inform Derek so he can address them as needed.
It looks like they requested that the existing DatabaseA on ServerB be overwritten and existing permissions be reapplied to ServerB. It was approved by their manager so I will proceed.
The pre restore checks confirm that the copy of the database they need exists, so I can choose to use that instead of taking a new one. Free space on the destination server also looks like it can handle this database being restored on ServerB.
Using the information provided by the user in the request, the application ensures that the proper files and locations can be used before performing the work. Again, if any issues arise in these checks, Derek can intervene and remedy the situation before anything is run.
Once all of the details of the request have been confirmed as acceptable by the DBA, Derek can then start the restore process through the application which will then generate and execute all of the necessary code to perform the requested steps with all of the details provided. If successful, the end users will be notified that the work is complete. If there is a failure, the information will be returned to Derek for a more thorough analysis and troubleshooting.
Now that I have confirmed all of the details of the request look good and managerial approval has been received I can start the restore. The end users will be notified as soon as the request was completed successfully.
