  • Hamartia: The fact he had an affair with Abigail. John wants to fix things with his wife. So, he is fighting himself to not go back to Abigail.
  • Abigail, I will cut my hand off before I reach to touch you again.
  • We will know the truth after Goody Proctor testifies.
  • John Proctor as a Tragic Hero
  • Hubris: He has so much pride because he doesn't wanna admit that he has flaws. However, he is had an affair and his third child isn't baptized but, sense he is a prominent public figure he hides his flaws.
  • I would never! I have a wife and children!
  • May god be with you proctor.
  • John you must confess. They say if you confess they shall not hang me and the child.
  • Anagnorisis: He realize he has to forget about Abigail and He doesn't want his children to have a bad reputation because of his mistakes.
  • Y'all are raising up a whore! God is dead!
  • Peripeteia: PRoctor's life completely turned upside down when Abigail accused his loved ones who then were sent to jail, or executed.
  • Nemesis: John cannot escape his sins, for they are many, so he has to pay by giving his life. (adultry, lying)
  • *sobbing*
  • John did not worship the devil. He was a Christian man.
  • Poor John! He was a good man.
  • Negative emotions that would be felt towards him are wasted away because his death is an example of true puritan values.
  • Well, he died for good reasoning. What such a good man.
  • He should have never been put to death.
