"Yipes!" yelped a terrified Melody. "My WINGS are DISSOLVING!!! HELP!!!!" "Harmony, what have you done?" cried Lyric. " I can't stand up straight anymore! My legs are rubber!!!" Harmony giggled. "Oh, you guys are overreacting! You'll be fine." Just then, the bubbles cleared...
...revealing two VERY confused mermaids looking EXACTLY like Lyric and Melody. Except they hadn't realized they were mermaids yet. "Great, now I feel like a fish out of water." Lyric complained. Then she looked down. "Correction. I AM a fish out of water. She looked up. "Harmony, what did you do?" Melody began whimpering. "I can't fly! What am I going to do?" "What you are going to do," Harmony said, "is come with me. You've got no choice now. Come on!"
Grinning, Harmony opened her mouth... and sang. It was a haunting melody without words, and it brought great surprise, for this was not how she had sang when Lyric had met her. According to Melody's surprise, she hadn't sang this way for her, either. Just then, the sound of fiercely rushing water filled the air. Lyric and Harmony turned and gasped. A wave somewhere about thirty feet high was coming toward them. As it scooped them up, Harmony smiled.
"What is this thing?" yelled Melody. "And why does it seem to have a mind of its own?" added Lyric. Harmony laughed. "Don't be silly, guys! This is our ride! And it's not a thing, it's actually very common around Dolphin Cove." "Dolphin Cove?" Melody repeated incredulously. "That's where I live and that's where we're going!" came the response. Suddenly the wave took a sharp turn left. Melody and Lyric flipped over, but Melody just laughed and helped them get back up.
Just as Melody opened her mouth to ask if Harmony lived underwater, the wave raised up about twenty-five feet higher. Melody screamed. They were now fifty feet above the water's surface. Then, without warning, the wave melted into air. The girls fell. "I CAN'T SWIM! HELP!!!" screamed Melody. Angling her body, Harmony moved toward her. Before she could reach her, SPLASH! They went under. Melody began frantically moving for the surface. Harmony grabbed her.
Melody whipped around and screeched, "I CAN'T BREATHE DOWN HERE LIKE YOU CAN! LET ME GO UP!!!" Having said this in one breath, Melody took a deep breath. Lyric and Harmony looked at her, suppressing laughter. A knew realization came into Melody's eyes. "Ohhhhh," she marveled. Lyric and Harmony snickered. "I knew that!" she grinned. "Now," Harmony said. "to my house!" And off they swam. "Oh, when you meet my mom, guys, be sure to curtsy." "WHAT?" "Yeah, you see..."
