Yeah! Another I work with are the systems at Drexel. Along with being a student I work in the IT dept for the arts school there. We have many computing labs that students and teachers interact with for different needs such as photoshop or unity. An issue with this system is all programs do not work on the lab machines.
What can I do yah for?
A little off the sides, a trim
So... Have you heard of sociotechnical systems
Doesn't sound like barber shop talk -- What is that?
Glad you ask! Its any system that includes technical systems that are used or interacted by people and operational processes
Uhh right. Gotcha!
I'll explain more, think of the difference between a technical perspective and a sociotechnial one as the the technology system being used versus what people and operations are on the system.
Oh so like the difference between 10 computers on a network versus part of the dispatch unit for the fire department?
CAD=Computer Aided Dispatch
I have actually worked with that system. We would have to go to all 78 Engines and upgrade the firefighter's computers to run the CAD systems. Each system had to be connected to 9-1-1 services to relay to firefighters 24/7. This was a vital and good sociotechnical system
