  •     In August 1585,Roanoke other wise known as the lost colony was established by Walter Raleigh.
  •  1610
  • On may 14 1607, about 100 colonist landed on a narrow island in the james river. Where they started the lives in the new world, all because of Captain Newport and John White. Later in the summer of 1607 Captain Newport went back to england with 2 ships and 40 crew members to get more supplies and colonist. The colonist he didn't take along started to suffer greatly from hunger and disease, as well as constant threats of attack most arranged by a empire under Chief Powhatan. Princess Pocahontas saves John Smith.

  • In late 1609, Captain Newport came back from England the inhabitant of Jamestown suffered through a long harsh winter, and the "Starving Period"during which more than 100 colonist died. 
  •  1619
  • In the spring of 1610, just as the remaining colonist were ready to leave Jamestown 2 ships arrived needing at least 150 colonist,a cache of supplies,and the new English governor of the colony Lord De La Warr. Soon Lord De La Warr got ill and put Sir Thomas Gates in charges. He had a very Representative Government. 
  • In 1612, John Rolfe started experimenting with tobacco than once he finally got it down he traded tobacco for corn with the indians. Shortly after Pocahontas is capture to try and save a colonist taken by her father Chief Powhatan. Once that's settled Pocahontas marries John Rolfe. And then Pocahontas tarvels with John and there son Thomas.
  • In 1619,about 20 African servants are sent to Virginia. These are said to be the first African Americans in virginia.They also brought women over.  Virginia gets a new governor named George Yeardley initiates several reforms including the creation of the first representative assembly in North America. 22 burgesses representing each of the towns or plantations constitute this "House of Burgesses."
