On the Earth there was nothing but Death who lived with his family which consisted of his wife and their daughter. Having nowhere to live Sa decided that he would create a large sea of mud, where they had lived for many years.
However, when the God Alatangana visited he was disgusted by the environment they were living in and decided to turn the mud into the earth. yet he still wasn’t happy, so he decided to create plants to grow and animals to roam the plant, Sa was impressed so he let him stay as a guest.
After a while Alatangana decided he wanted to marry Sa’s daughter and make her his wife but Sa did not want them to marry so he refused his request. Yet Alatangana disregarded his disapproval and married her, moving to a distant region far from her father.
Sa angry at this cursed their fourteen children, which were seven girls and seven boys, so that they all spoke different languages. The children left home leaving for different corners of the world, finding all the different races.
Even though Alatangana was able to create the earth he was not able to create light which irritated him so he sent the tou-toubird and a rooster to ask Sa. The birds went and asked Sa how to bring light tothe earth, to which he taught them a song that wouldbring daylight. Alatangana was very angry when he heard about the song, thinking it was ridiculous and almost killed the birds but he let them liveand sent them away.
The next day the birds sang the song they had learnt to bring light to the earth during the day and a faint light during the night. Alatangana was very grateful and when Sa asked for repayment for everything he has done he did so willingly. Sa had asked that when he was to call his children they were to go to death and stay with him.
