"arrest and execution of Thomas Scott"

Storyboard Text

  • What about equal representation and rights for the new English Protestants?
  • The Canadian Party was concerned with equal rights and welfare of new English Protestant settlers.
  • And what about the well being of them? We must do something to solve this!
  • Scott often insulted Metis guards while in prison which led Louis Riel (Metis leader) to hold a trial for him.
  • It is time for equality
  • The canadian Party attempted to overthrow the provisional government (Metis) so they could get more rights.
  • Let us get what we want!
  • Oh no!
  • Let us go right now!!!
  • The Metis captured about 50 members of the Canadian Party including Thomas Scott (prominent Protestant of Orangemen) and imprisoned them in Fort Garry.
  • You are guilty
  • I am sorry! Please do not do anything to me
  • Thomas Scott was found guilty and was executed in March 1870.
  • After Scott's execution many people in Ontario were upset, so MacDonald (Prime Minister of Canada) initiated the Red River Expedition (armed force) and sent it to Fort Garry. However, when they arrived, Riel had fled so he wouldn't get killed.
  • Where is Riel?
  • We have come for revenge!
