  • Event One
  • Event Two
  • Event Three
  • A king replaced his wife Nephele with a wife that was "determined to bring about the little boy's death" (Hamilton 123), the little boy being Nephele's son, Phrixus.
  • Event Four
  • Before he could be killed, "a wondrous ram, with a fleece of pure gold, snatched him and his sister up and bore them away through the air" (Hamilton 123). However the sister dies and he sacrifices the ram afterwards and gives the fleece to a nation that accepted him.
  • Event Five
  • Related to Phrixus was "an uncle who was by rights a king in Greece, but had had his kingdom taken away from him by his nephew (Hamilton 124). However, the former King's son grew up in safety and returned to take back the throne.
  • Event Six
  • The nephew, Pelias, makes a deal with Jason stating, "The dead Phrixus bids us bring back the Golden Fleece...Do you go upon this quest and I swear with Zeus as witness that I will give up the kingdom..." (Hamilton 124).
  • Once they heard about the quest, "the young men of Greece joyfully met the challenge. They came, all the best and noblest, to join the company" (Hamilton 124). Hera helped them whenever they needed it because she was angry at Pelias.
  • The group faced many obstacles, including a time that "Hylas... was drawn under the water as he dipped his pitcher in the spring, by a water nymph" (Hamilton 125). This first event showed the danger of the trip ahead.
