  • The Reconquista goal is to regain the Iberian Peninsula, Portugal and Spain. The Reconquista created a unique culture such as in Cordoba and Toledo. In 1085, the Christians captured Toledo when the Christians take advantage of Muslims weakness. In 1139, Portugal became an independent Christian kingdom. There was only a small kingdom of Granada, and the southern coast of Spain that was under the Muslim control by 1248.

  • In the 1400s, Queen Isabella and King Ferdinand wanted to unite Spain to a Catholic country by using Inquisition. In 1492, Granada was not in the hands of the Muslims because Queen Isabella and King Ferdinand send armies to the city. On the same year the Jews were forced out of the country, or else they have to become a Catholic, this demand allows 170,000 Jews to left their homes.
  • The Inquisition is a church court that was established by the Catholic Church to go against The Muslims and the Jews. Inquisition was used by Queen Isabella and King Ferdinand to unit Spain to a Catholic country. The judges at the inquisition sometimes use harsh ways to determine if the convent were practicing old religions, allowing thousands to be killed at the stake.

  • During the crusade, some people were wounded or killed, others died from disease. However, the crusades also brought many economic changes, such as the increase use of money. They started a tax system, and monarchs grew powerful which helped to end feudalism. They also inherited different culture and different food.

  • The crusades is a terrible ordeal for the Muslims, some lost their lives, and property were destroy. Muslims, however, did gain a few things during the crusades, including weapons, and military ideas. They adopt the idea of permanent army, the fact that merchants earned riches, and the political change.

  • The Jews suffered violent persecutions during and after the crusades. Some of the lost include being murdered, holy books and synagogues were destroyed, looted homes and business, and some even got tortured. Riots and massacres broke out because anti- semitism spread among non- crusaders. Jews were forced to live in ghettos, where they were separated from the rest of the others.
