Back in olden times, a semi-barbaric king held trials of law by a chance in an arena. The accused can open 1 of two doors with a 50/50 chance of either a tiger (guilty) or a lady (innocent).
The King's daughter falls in love with a young man how is low in social status and when the king finds out, he thinks it is unacceptable and throws the young man in jail.
After the young man was thrown into jail, the King decides to give him the same chance as everyone else accused of a crime. He is placed into the area where there is a 50/50 chance he will get the most savage tiger, or the most fitting lady.
The prince was asked by her lover which door to open and she points to the right.
I personally believe that the princess, no matter how jealous she would be, would choice the lady over the tiger for her lover. I wouldn't want to see my love die and i'd hope think she wouldn't either.
The theme of the story is choices and consequences. The king gives the choices of the doors with a good or bad result....The princess chooses which door he opens, whether life or death.
