Lily is a 14 year old girl who is struggling with her mother's death. She lives insensitive father in Sylvan, SC. She is on a journey to find forgiveness and acceptance of her situation

Rosaleen is a black, heavy women who works for T.ray and Lily. Rosaleen is facing hardships due to racism that is occurring. She is a strong independent women who will stick up for herself if she needs to.

T.Ray is an insensitive father who does not know how to treat others. He is quite rude and cruel, especially to his daughter, Lily.

August is an independent and strong woman. August is a beekeeper who makes delectable honey. Despite being an African-American at the time, August has a quite detailed education. Her and her two sisters, May and June live in a bright pink house in Tiburon, SC.
May is a bit unstable due to her twin sister, April, commiting suicide at a young age. May is very sentimental and will begin to tear up if you do anything as little as crush a bug. To help May cope with her emotions, her sisters created a wailing wall where she can write her sorrows on a piece of paper and stuff it into her wall.
June is the racist sister; she does not like any white people. She is also quite prejudice to marriage because her ex-fiance left her at the alter. Her job is playing beautiful music on her cello for people who are dying.
