Storyboard Text

  • Hey! Have you heard of the Indian Removal Act?
  • Yeah, I heard that the remaining tribes were forced to move west to new indian territory.
  • Did you know: One of the Cherokee leaders John Ross refused to give or sell land to white settlers?
  • Oh my gosh! I had no idea that's awful!
  • Martin Van Buren ordered troops to march into Georgia and forcibly remove all remaining tribes
  • I also heard they were rounded up like herds of cattle and forced to walk thousands of miles.
  • Between 1830 and 1840 about 60,000 Native Americans were forced from their homelands in the South to land west of the Mississippi.
  • Wow!
  • More than 10,000 Native American died in the Trail of Tears
  • That's a lot of people!
  • I just thought I would talk to you about this because were learning about it in class.
  • Thanks those facts were really cool!
