King Hamlet has died and his ghost comes back to talk to Hamlet. Hamlet learns that his father was poisoned by his Uncle Claudius who now has the throne.
Hamlet wants to avenge his father's death. He struggles with deciding if the ghost was even real or not which causes him to be undecided in his actions.
Hamlet uses tactics to prove Claudius's guilt. He has a theater group act out a play where a king is poisoned in the ar and the throne is taken over by his murderer. He believes Claudius's reaction will prove him guilty or innocent.
Hamlet accidentally kills Polonius because he believed he was killing Claudius. The murder of Polonius causes his daughter Ophelia to have a downward spiral.
After her downward spiral, Ophelia drowns in a brook. Laertes blames Hamlet for Ophelia's death and challenges him to a fencing match.
At the match, Laertes poisons the tip of his sword. Claudius poisons a cup and Gertrude dies. Hamlet,Claudius and Laertes also all die. Horatio is the last man standing.
